Maeng Da is the most requested name in our catalog and one of the most misunderstood. It appears on products from seven different brands on our shelves, in powder, capsule, and extract form, in sizes from a single serving to a full kilo.

This page exists because "Maeng Da" on its own does not narrow anything down. What actually distinguishes these products from one another is brand, format, grind, and pack size. So that is how we have organized them.

First, what "Maeng Da" on a label actually tells you

Maeng Da is a grading term, not a place. It does not name a region the way Bali, Borneo, or Sumatra do, and there is no standards body defining what qualifies.

In practice it is used by producers to designate material they consider a premium selection. What that means in a given package depends entirely on the producer applying the label. Two brands using the same word are not making the same claim, because there is no shared claim to make.

The vein colors you will see attached to Maeng Da, green, red, and white, refer to post-harvest sorting and processing conventions rather than to any promised result. We treat them here as a way to navigate the catalog, which is what they are.

Split kilo

Enhanced is one of the label terms with no standardized definition, so the certificate of analysis is the document that tells you what is actually in it. This is a good example of where reading the lab report is more informative than reading the front of the package.

The extract option
